Our client is a research oriented institute focused on solving the most important and fundamental challenges in Robotics and AI. We are seeking a VP of People who will join the organization to lead all Human Resources activity in an organization with a culture centered on bold technical exploration, fundamental thinking, teamwork, and a passion for creativity.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, The VP of People will lead and evolve a comprehensive Human Resources strategy, focusing on shaping and fostering a strong organizational culture, building foundational programs, processes, and infrastructure. They will oversee HR business partnerships, employee relations, total rewards programs, talent acquisition and development initiatives, and ensure compliance with HR policies and regulations. The VP of People will be both a strategic architect and a hands-on operator, skilled in listening, guiding, and executing HR initiatives.
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted advisor/thoughtful sounding board and business partner to the Company’s senior leaders, functioning as the expert on people and organizational issues and providing guidance on managing complex and sometimes sensitive employee relations matters
- In addition to advising the senior leadership team, serve as a mentor and coach for first time people leaders and early career employees, with an eye towards developing confident and collaborative managers
- Refine and deliver scalable, efficient, and effective People Operations programs and processes for sourcing, recruiting, on-boarding, training, performance management, promotion, compensation review, leadership and development, and off boarding
- Drive initiatives related to organizational design and change management to enhance team effectiveness and to cultivate a company culture that drives employee engagement, retention, and high performance
- Assess and develop targeted and customized management and leadership development programming that will enable project teams to collaborate more effectively and will ensure a diverse and inclusive workplace
- Measure the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives, utilizing data-driven insights to make informed recommendations that enhance organizational efficiency and performance
The ideal candidate will be an experienced HR leader and change agent with a continuous improvement approach and demonstrated expertise in “building the HR basics” in a research-oriented start-up environment, working with engineers and/or PhD’s. A BA/BS degree with advanced education and/or relevant certifications is a plus.
