We are excited to be partnering with a global Boston-based private equity firm to hire a newly created position for the firm. This role will sit in the investment organization and will focus on the junior investment team members (Analysts, Associates, and Senior Associates.)
The Professional Development & Staffing Manager will be the key point of contact for both junior investment staff as well as the Vice Presidents, Principals, and Managing Directors as it pertains to capacity, preferences, and development opportunities. This individual will build trust and credibility by developing a professional relationship with each junior team member, including an in-depth understanding of individual’s professional aspirations, staffing history, strengths, development needs, and relevant personal circumstances, both on an on-going basis and around specific engagements.
Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Meet weekly with VPs, Principals and MDs to achieve optimum deployment of team and to understand new deal staffing pipeline
- Monitor and manage staffing, highlight emerging peaks and troughs, take appropriate measures in collaboration across team
- Prepare and run the weekly staffing pipeline meetings/calls
- Participate in bi-annual performance review process
- Work closely with the training team to identify needs/gaps in curriculum and determine most effective delivery to cohorts and individuals
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, collaborative, intelligent, have sound judgment, and will have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition to strong professional development and time management skills, the successful candidate must have experience working in a professional services, strategy consulting, investment banking, or similar type of firm. He/She will have superior communication skills and a demonstrated ability to write effectively, strong interpersonal skills and ability to build consensus across teams, and outstanding leadership and project management capabilities. A sense of urgency, strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to learn will also be critical. An undergraduate degree is required, MBA or progress towards advanced education is desirable, and while prior experience with professional development and staffing is not required, some prior experience is preferred.Target compensation range of 150-175K.
