• We are honored to have been selected by WGBH Educational Foundation (GBH) to conduct the search for their new Chief People Officer. As the leading multi-platform creator for public media in America, GBH is a diversified company committed to generating content and resources for all audiences to advance knowledge, education, culture, and professional journalistic explorations of news.

    The CPO will report to the Chief Operating Officer and join a talented and inspiring Executive Leadership Team. Taking the reins from an experienced and effective Human Resources leader who has led a team focused on building foundational programs, processes, and infrastructure, the CPO will be a change agent with a continuous improvement approach. As an integral member of the Executive Leadership team, they will have the following specific responsibilities:  

    • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, COO, and Executive Leadership Team, offering sophisticated counsel on complex human capital issues. Navigate the subtleties of executive dynamics and provide strategic guidance that enhances leadership effectiveness and organizational coherence
    • Build deep relationships across GBH’s organizational ecosystem, gaining a profound understanding of its unique culture and strategic imperatives. As the public media landscape continues to evolve, they will influence, design, and deploy tailored people strategies that meet both immediate and long-term organizational needs
    • In collaboration with the Inclusion and Equity office, provide ongoing thought partnership and leadership of best-in-class practices focused on employee development, engagement, culture, and organizational excellence
    • Demonstrate effective relationship building across all levels of the organization, and teach and continuously coach managers to develop leadership bench strength that can address the challenges of a highly dynamic organization; ensure programming is in place so that managers may collaborate in peer learning and coaching
    • Continue to improve upon existing HR processes and standards, leveraging technology for efficient data management and business operations

      The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader with demonstrated expertise in driving culture, employee engagement, talent development, and inclusion. The CPO will be responsible for all HR functions including strategic workforce planning, performance management, total rewards, talent development, talent acquisition and labor relations.  A BA/BS degree with advanced education and/or relevant certifications is a plus.
